Why this exists
Learners are already using AI, at home and at school, whether anyone planned for it or not. Yet at the time of writing there is no national policy for AI in South African schools, and no South African institution whose whole job is AI and schooling. Health, agriculture, mining and finance all have national AI attention. Classrooms do not.
So the work lands on you: the principal, the SGB member, the teacher, the learner, the parent. You are expected to have a considered position on a technology that arrived faster than any circular about it.

The thinking

Creativity researcher Ronald Beghetto distinguishes fast AI, taking the first polished answer and running, from slow AI: working with the tool deliberately, questioning it, staying in control. Our resources are built for the slow kind.
Five words Beghetto suggests giving any chatbot, and the smallest unit of the whole philosophy. AI in a school should widen a learner's options, not replace the learner's thinking.
We will not tell you possibility thinking is proven to raise creativity scores. The research evidence on creative pedagogies is genuinely inconclusive, and we would rather tell you that than sell you certainty. What the evidence does support: how AI is used matters more than whether it is used. That is what our resources are designed around.
